W e are grateful for Sotheby’s dedicated partnership in hosting our Annual Youth Showcase for the third year in a row. A core pillar of our program is to address the lack of diversity in the arts by providing access and opportunities into a wide variety of creative paths for our talented young people. The experience our youth gain by showcasing their work at such an esteemed cultural institution is unparalleled, helping them build confidence as they begin navigating their professional careers.
For 23 years, Free Arts NYC has worked to level the playing field by providing high-quality arts programming to over 40,000 youth in New York City. Through partnerships with schools, community centers, and transitional housing facilities in underrepresented communities, Free Arts NYC works to support the self-confidence and resiliency of over 2,000 diverse children and teens annually.
Free Arts NYC is dedicated to supporting and showcasing the next great generation of young artists. The 82 works of art come from teens enrolled in our Portfolio Development and Creative Lab programs and youth in our Free Arts Day program. This summer we will continue our programming with summer internships, digital literacy workshops, and artist studio visits for middle school and high school teens and sending art supplies to our school age youth.
