Patek Philippe Museum

Geneva | Switzerland

The world’s foremost journey through time

The Patek Philippe Museum in Geneva is dedicated to more than just the timepieces made by its namesake Swiss brand. It’s home to a collection of Genevese, Swiss and European watches and enamels dating from the 16th to the early 19th century. Philippe Stern, the honorary president of the Geneva manufacturer, collected the 2,500 watches, automata, precious objects and portrait miniatures on enamel that are on display. The collection is split in two: the Antiques Collection and the Patek Philippe Collection, which displays the brand’s watches made since its foundation in 1839 up to the present day. The museum opened in 2001 in a renovated industrial building dating from 1919-20 that once housed one of Patek Philippe’s ateliers. The interior was designed by Stern’s wife Gerdi, who aimed to give the rooms the warmth and intimacy of a private residence. The museum also has a library with over 8,000 publications related to time and time measurement.
