The museum champions contemporary art from Africa in all its forms
The Musée d’Art Contemporain Africain Al Maaden (MACAAL) in Marrakech is an independent, not-for-profit contemporary art museum. One of the first of its kind on the continent, it is dedicated to the promotion of African art through its diverse exhibition and education programs. The museum nurtures an understanding of contemporary art from Africa by collecting and exhibiting established and emerging artists to show the creative energy and cultural diversity found across the continent. MACAAL showcases art from Morocco and its neighboring countries across a range of media. Its permanent collection and exhibitions focus on art by African and international artists that engage in a dialogue with the continent.
