A regional collection with heft
The Memorial Art Gallery of the University of Rochester has a permanent collection of more than 12,000 objects; one of exceptional quality among regional museums. It has a stellar collection of European art, with paintings, sculptures, and decorative arts ranging from the Middle Ages through to the 20th century. In addition, the gallery offers a year-round schedule of temporary exhibitions, lectures, concerts, tours and family activities. In 2013 the gallery opened its Centennial Sculpture Park, which features large-scale contemporary sculptures spread across 14 acres.
