Singular cache of the master’s graphic legacy
The Kunstmuseum Pablo Picasso Münster is the first and only dedicated Picasso museum in Germany. Opened in 2000 and housed in a complex of two historic buildings in Münster’s old town, the museum holds one of the world’s most comprehensive collections of Picasso’s graphic work. It features more than 800 lithographs — representing nearly all of the artist’s output in this medium — as well as a notable collection of ceramics, linocuts and artist’s books. In addition to temporary exhibitions focusing on aspects of Picasso’s oeuvre, the museum often showcases his contemporaries, including Henri Matisse, Georges Braque, Marc Chagall and Joan Miró, and acts as a center for research, particularly on Picasso’s graphic works.
