Blenheim Palace

Woodstock, Oxfordshire | United Kingdom

The magnificent birthplace of Winston Churchill

Blenheim Palace was built between 1705 and 1722, and is considered an outstanding example of English baroque architecture. Home of the 12th Duke and Duchess of Marlborough and the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with a rich fine and decorative art collection and some of the most beautiful parkland in England. The palace stages events, tours and exhibitions, including, since 2014, a program of major exhibits by contemporary artists including Ai Weiwei, Maurizio Cattelan, Cecily Brown, and Tino Sehgal. The palace is famous for its exquisite state apartments, each lavishly decorated with tapestries, fine furniture, and priceless works of art. Much of its surrounding parkland — spanning more than 2,000 acres — was designed by the famous landscape architect Capability Brown in the 1760s.
