About the Museum

The Asian Civilisations Museum (ACM) is the region’s first and only art museum devoted to the diverse cultures of Asia. With a collection spanning Southeast Asia, China, South Asia and the Islamic world of West Asia, the museum’s galleries are a window to more than 5,000 years of Asian civilisation. Exhibits that engage visitors through multimedia displays and interactive kiosks are presented within the context of today’s Asian traditions and practices. The ACM’s collection began with pieces inherited from the colonial Raffles Library and Museum, which consisted of mostly ethnological materials from Southeast Asia. New collections were begun in the 1990s for West Asia, the Islamic world and South Asia.
