S otheby’s is proud to partner with ARTNOIR on the return and expansion of the Jar of Love Fund. This impactful microgrant initiative has been providing support for artists, designers, curators, and cultural producers of color since 2020.
For this special grant cycle, the Jar of Love Fund will focus on applicants based in New York City and London, providing recipients with unrestricted grants of $5,000. For the London-based recipients, we will be awarding the funds through Dr. Samuel Ross MBE and the Black British Artist Grants programme by SR_A. Beyond financial support, the cohorts of grantees in both London and New York will have opportunities for mentorship, career development, and global networking.
“ARTNOIR is proud to partner with Sotheby's again in our ongoing Jar of Love Fund, aptly named to align with our mission at ARTNOIR to chart a new course in the arts where groundbreaking artists, curators and cultural producers of color in New York City and London receive the support they need to leave a lasting legacy.”
ARTNOIR has welcomed an esteemed selection committee to help determine the 2024 cohort of grantees. Committee members for New York include: Jenée-Daria Strand, Assistant Curator at Public Art Fund; Nontsikelelo Mutiti, visual artist and Director of Graduate Studies for Graphic Design at Yale School of Art; and Adama Delphine Fawundu, visual artist, Guggenheim Fellow and Professor of Visual Art at Columbia University. Committee members for London include leading British academic and historic art institutions.
