T he Venice Biennale is a renowned celebration of art across the globe. It captures the voices of a diverse breadth of artists working at the current moment and facilitates space for great introspection and reflection on the cultural, political, and economic landscape of our time. From Simone Leigh's empowering bronze bust embodying mysticism in the female form at the U.S. Pavilion to the Surrealist survey at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, the Venice Biennale and the cultural events surrounding it is a testament to the many lenses through which art enables us to interpret the changing world around us.
Sotheby's Aspen is excited to present Venice in Aspen, a group of works that transport the energy of the Biennale from the canals of Venice to the mountains of Aspen. We are presenting a multi-faceted show that highlights the best of this historic Biennale with works included by: Marlene Dumas, Ruth Asawa, Barbara Kruger and others to continue the dynamic conversations started in Venice this year.
