T his spring, Sir Grayson Perry will grace the walls of Sotheby’s London in a dedicated exhibition of photographs of the artist by multi- award-winning photographer Richard Ansett. On view from 28 March to 17 April, A Portrait of Grayson Perry features photographs taken by Ansett over the course of their more than ten-year working relationship. Taking pride of place is a monumental reproduction from their most recent collaboration and chosen by Perry for his official 65th birthday portrait from the shoot which took place at The Wallace Collection, the setting for a soon-to-open exhibition of Perry’s solo work, Delusions of Grandeur, Sotheby’s showcases these works and never shown before printed editions including a special Sotheby’s edition, which are available for immediate sale.
“I have long been an admirer of Richard Ansett, so to present this very special exhibition – an in-depth and rarely seen portrait of one of Britain’s most treasured living artists, Grayson Perry – is an exciting moment for us. Ansett brings a uniquely fun, irreverent lens to amplify his subject’s creative personality, resulting in images which zing with colour, imagination and wit.”
