A diamond tiara, Carrington & Co., early 20th century

Designed as a graduated frieze of scrolling, openwork stylised ribbon heart motifs within which suspend stylised flowerbuds, and buds issuing from a double-row, set throughout with diamonds. The designs of the early 20th century can be characterised by their lightness and more delicate nature. Jewellers became adept at reducing the amount of precious metal visible in settings, allowing the magnificence of the diamonds to speak for themselves, inner length approximately 269mm.
