René Magritte
Galatée
Estimation : 800 000 – 1 200 000 GBP
René Magritte's "Galatée"
With its surreal arrangement of soft white clouds floating serenely over a tranquil landscape, Galatée takes as its subject matter one of the most iconic motifs within René Magritte’s oeuvre: that of a cloud-filled sky, inspired by the wide flat landscapes of Belgium with the large open skies that created the perfect scenery to inspire Magritte.

View 1 of Lot 329: The Butcher
Adrian Ghenie
The Butcher
Estimation : 400 000 – 600 000 GBP
Adrian Ghenie's "The Butcher"
Rendered in the hallmark style of Adrian Ghenie’s masterful visual practice, The Butcher from 2009 is a sumptuously surreal amalgamation of colour, texture and form. Oscillating between figurative and abstract, the composition demonstrates Ghenie’s preference for what he has called ‘staged accidents’, resulting in a series of unique textures and pictorial elements.

Yayoi Kusama
Pumpkin
Estimation : 200 000 – 300 000 GBP
Yayoi Kusama's "Pumpkin"
Rendered in a shade of golden-orange, Kusama deliberately painted Pumpkin in the gourd’s essential colour with a direct semblance to a sweet, tender and luscious kabocha. The work is covered in precisely painted polka dots and set against a wall of tessellated nets – all of which are wholly iconic and era-defining features of the artist’s style.

View 1 of Lot 418: Maison au toit rouge
Pablo Picasso
Maison au toit rouge
Estimation : 550 000 – 700 000 GBP
Pablo Picasso's "Maison au toit rouge"
In Pablo Picasso’s oeuvre, the theme of landscape emerges as a game of metaphors and symbols. The dialogue with his immediate environment arose from his internal monologue; as a reliable storyteller of his own biography, he portrayed what was closest to him.
