W ith his latest work, Jorge revisits ideas that defined his aesthetic over the past decade. “For this opportunity with Sotheby’s, I am pushing concepts and techniques that I have explored before even further, making this quite a personal and special exhibition,” said Jorge. The pieces represent the evolution of Jorge’s signature styles as well as his continued desire to push the boundaries of jewellery design.
Inspired to combine materials from different parts of the world and different layers of the earth, these pieces required an elevated level of technical complexity, as many of the materials are not commonly found in jewellery.
Several of the exclusive pieces explore volume, texture and colour, marking Jorge’s return to his Brazilian roots. "My previous high jewellery pieces were predominantly colourless, featuring natural diamonds set in gold. This time, I sought to reintroduce colour, softness, and playfulness into my designs,” added Jorge. “This journey involved creating material combinations that result in striking contrasts, such as emerald and malachite." Other pieces feature coloured diamonds and precious stones paired with unexpected, humble materials such as Brazilian river pebbles, marble and fossilized amber.
The collaboration with Sotheby’s has been in development for more than two years and is the first time the house has exhibited a contemporary jeweller in this many locations. The exhibition began in New York in November 2023, continued in London in January 2024 before moving to the Sotheby’s Salon at the iconic Bucherer building on Bahnofstrasse, from the 18–27 of March.

The Designer
Brazilian born jewellery designer Fernando Jorge has developed a truly unique aesthetic. His work encapsulates the laidback attitude and effortless sensuality of his home country.
Initially studying in São Paulo, Jorge worked for over a decade for Brazilian jewellery companies before moving to London for a Masters degree in Jewellery Design at Central Saint Martins. His graduation collection, presented in 2010, was received with critical acclaim and the designer subsequently established his eponymous brand in the UK.
Jorge’s pieces are imbued with sensuality, energy and movement. His work is inherently Brazilian, using locally sourced and hand carved gemstones, all detailed by his signature finish in fluid and delicate gold structures and diamonds. The result is distinctly sculptural jewellery that is both elegant and modern.
Having gained an international media following, the designer is widely considered to be amongst the brightest emerging talents in the jewellery world. Jorge’s notable achievements include: winner of Best in Colored Gemstones (2014), Best in Diamonds (2017), and Editor’s Choice (2018) at the Couture jewellery Show, “Diamonds of the Year” from Town & Country (2018), British Fashion Awards nominations for “Best Emerging Accessories Designer” by the British Fashion Council (2014 & 2015), Business of Fashion’s 500 People Shaping the Global Fashion Industry (yearly since 2014), GEM Award for “Jewellery Designer of the Year (2019), and the Town & Country Award for “Best in Diamonds” (2020).
Jorge’s collections can be found in the most prestigious stores in 25 cities around the world, including Bergdorf Goodman, Matches Fashion, Le Bon Marche and Net A Porter. The designer’s showroom and creative headquarters are in London and he has a by-appointment space in São Paulo.
