S otheby’s is honored to partner with five-time NBA All-Star, Miami Heat power forward, and devoted philanthropist, Kevin Love for Contemporary Curated, who contributes an incalculable perspective in his selection of 10 works, all marked by their deft storytelling capabilities and exceptional form. Love is no stranger to following one’s passion—his impressive athleticism and generosity is perhaps best complemented by his spectacular collection of art, each work representing his eager and relentless curiosity. Love’s illustrious career does not stop at basketball; in addition to his affinity to the arts, he is also a fierce advocate for physical and mental health, establishing the Kevin Love Fund in 2018 to provide principal resources for young students and teachers.
The Contemporary Curated exhibition will be on view on the 3rd floor of Sotheby’s between 23-27 September. The Contemporary Curated auction is a live sale on 28 September beginning at 10 AM EST (Lots 1-119) and 2pm EST (Lots 201-342) that will accept advance, absentee, phone and online bidding.
The September sale features a selection of trailblazing artists who define the postwar period including Lee Bontecou, Alex Katz, Ernie Barnes, and Ed Ruscha, as well as innovative players on the forefront of contemporary art, including Jennifer Packer, Louis Fratino, Mark Grotjahn and Pat Steir.
