S otheby’s is delighted to have a live auction of Ancient Sculpture and Works of Art occurring at our New Bond Street office on 6 December. This Part I sale is led by two sculptures reflective of great rulers from antiquity: an Assyrian Gypsum Alabaster Foundation Plaque commissioned by the storied Assyrian King Tukulti Ninurta I (circa 1233-1197 B.C.) along with a striking Roman Marble Portrait Bust of the Emperor Antoninus Pius from the Berkeley Collection at Spetchley Park.
Joining these important works are a diverse group of Egyptian sculptures in stone, faience and bronze, along with an array of Greek vases from the collection of a gentleman.
