Collected by the celebrated designers over the course of over two decades, the pieces on offer have comprised and defined the Krakoffs’ impeccably-designed Upper East Side residence. The auction will offer an encyclopedic range of works by leading artists and designers of various periods and genres from different centuries, all seamlessly united by Delphine and Reed’s sophisticated taste, their shared approach to collecting, and the superlative quality of the works themselves. The auction will offer pieces by Jean-Michel Frank, Marc Newson, Claude and François-Xavier Lalanne, Mattia Bonnetti, Joris Laarman, Line Vautrin, Morris Louis, Kenneth Noland and Louise Nevelson – among many others – and with pieces ranging from 18th and 19th Century American and French furniture, to Pre-War, Contemporary Art and beyond. This eclectic and highly curated combination of Art and Design, beautifully photographed in situ at the collectors’ townhouse, will be on view at Sotheby’s New York galleries this spring beginning 3 June.
