Cultural Leaders Programme

S otheby’s is proud to be a founding supporter of the Cultural Leaders Programme, a fully funded scholarship programme launched by Culture& and Sotheby’s Institute of Art. The programme is dedicated to empowering the next generation of diverse leaders in the contemporary art world, expanding access to arts education and offering financial support to talented students from underrepresented communities.

Acknowledging the necessity to expand access to educational opportunities in the arts, Sotheby’s support for the Cultural Leaders Programme reflects our commitment to addressing systemic barriers within the art world. The high cost of education is a significant barrier to entry for many young individuals from diverse backgrounds. By funding scholarships like this one, we aim to cultivate a more inclusive field and enhance accessibility within the industry we serve.

The scholarship includes a full fee waiver to one of the Institute’s esteemed one-year, full-time Master’s programmes– the MA in Contemporary Art; the MA in Art Business; or the MA in Fine and Decorative Art and Design– for three students each year over the course of three years. In addition to providing full fee coverage, this opportunity includes a London Living Wage bursary to cover living expenses, enabling students to concentrate fully on their studies.
