Description
In June 2021, MB&F founder Maximilian Büsser presented a timepiece called the M.A.D.1, not an MB&F Machine but a more accessible timepiece developed under a different brand, M.A.D.Editions, linking it to the mechanical art universe that has been created with the M.A.D.Galleries. The idea behind the M.A.D.Editions was born out of a certain frustration that not everyone could afford an MB&F timepiece, not even Maximilian Büsser’s own family or friends—the treasured Fs in the name MB&F—who have all played major roles in the success of the brand. The timepiece would be as creative as everything else MB&F had developed, only at an affordable price. This meant that it wouldn’t be possible to put the MB&F name on it. To keep the price accessible, the engineering, complexity and finishing would obviously not be in the same league as MB&F’s horological machines, so a new brand name had to be found.
This M.A.D. 1 Red is a stainless steel automatic wristwatch, circa 2021, with stainless steel case, size in diameter 42 mm. Automatic movement with Cal.Miyota 821A automatic, 21 jewels. Semi-skeletonized watch dial with lateral time display and triple-blade winding rotor. Black M.A.D.Editions leather strap and stainless steel double folding clasp. This watch comes with box and accessories.
Condition Report
Very GoodThe watch is in overall very good condition. All diamonds are intact. Case is in overall very good condition with minor surface wear. Bracelet has minor signs of stretch, scratches and surface wear throughout commensurate with age. Buckle has minor signs of scratches. Crystal has minor signs of scratches and surface wear throughout commensurate with age. Case back has minor signs of scratches. The movement is running at the time of cataloging, however, it was not tested for the accuracy of time or duration of the power reserve and may need service at the buyer's discretion.
