Description
Crafted to resemble a tortoise (hence its French namesake), the Tortue marked Cartier's third watch case design, predating even the iconic Tank. Louis Cartier, amidst the unveiling of the Santos-Dumont in 1904 and the Tonneau in 1906, conceived the Tortue in 1912. It remains a timeless design, with this extraordinary example combining Cartier's trademark elegance with technical complexity in the form of perpetual calendar functionality. Includes box.

Very GoodThe watch is in overall very good condition with minor wear throughout commensurate with age. The movement is running at the time of cataloging, however, it was not tested for the accuracy of time or duration of the power reserve and may need service at the buyer's discretion. Please note that Sotheby's does not guarantee the future working of the movement.
