Description
First printing of this beautiful adaptation of Lewis Carroll's classic, with illustrations inspired by early modern woodblocks — a scarce Goodhue work in exceptional condition.
With woodcut illustrations that look like an incunable had a brief but inspiring friendship with Aubrey Beardsley, Alice in Wonderland is an attractive example of Bertram Godhue's Arts and Crafts sensibilities in book form. His bright, bold aesthetic is a perfect match for Emily Prime Delafield's interpretation of Alice, which was first presented for The Society of Decorative Art with a cast of children. This is a very nice copy, rarely found so.
