Description

A Satsuma vase from the Meiji period.

  • Hexagonal form richly decorated with elegantly dressed women and children among cherry blossoms and gardens.
  • Shoulder with a dense pattern of vines with medallions of bamboo, dragons, ho-ho birds and flowers on a deep blue ground underneath a lappet border of banners at the neck.
  • Satsuma mark to bottom.
