Description

Inscribed first edition, first printing of Warhol’s impressionistic semi-memoirs, initialed by the artist, and with an original drawing of his iconic soup can.

  • Andy Warhol (American).
  • New York and London: Harcourt Brace Jovanovich, 1975.
  • 241 pages.
  • Initialed vertically by Warhol in black marker on half-title page and further inscribed in blue ballpoint pen (”To Alan”), followed by a drawing of a Campbell’s soup can and signed in full: “Andy Warhol.”
  • Bound in original half orange cloth with yellow boards, black endpapers and with original unclipped jacket.

“Always omit the blemishes—they’re not part of the good picture you want.” Handsome signed copy of this compilation of Warhol's shorter aphoristic sayings and longer pieces, which veer from the blandly superficial to the devastatingly astute and back again, notwithstanding the artist’s disdain for “circles where very heavy people have very heavy brains.” Much of the book was adapted from taped conversations with the artist's collaborators and ghostwriters. Which is to say: an entirely Warholian production.
