Description

Van Winkle Special Reserve 20 Year Old Cork N Bottle 90.4 Proof 1967

Distilled on October 30th 1967, bottled on November 18 1987, bottled for Cork N Bottle by Old Rip Van Winkle Distillery, Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, good level, red wax capsule has very small air bubble, front label very slightly peeling on the bottom right

Along with Corti Brothers, the Cork N Bottle releases of Van Winkle Special Reserve count as the pinnacle of the legendary label. Gordon Hue, the owner of the Cork N Bottle liquor store in northern Kentucky, teamed with Julian Van Winkle III in the 1980s and 1990s to create some of the most iconic whiskeys America has ever seen – including this, among the first 20-year-old bourbons offered by Van Winkle and a complete game-changer in terms of pushing up age statements on American whiskey, at a time when bourbon appreciation was at its nadir. Today, Cork N Bottle releases count among the rarest and most desired whiskeys in the country.
