Julian Van Winkle III often says of all his whiskeys, the 15-year-old is his favorite. Today he bottles it at 107 proof, under the Pappy Van Winkle’s Family Reserve, but until the early 2000s he bottled it under a different label, Van Winkle Family Reserve. Even earlier than that, at a much lower 90 proof. Many of these early bottles were intended for export, making them exceedingly rare in the United States.
