Description

Old Rip Van Winkle 'Van Winkle Selection' Kentucky Bourbon Festival Master Distiller's Auction 2007 125.6 Proof NV

This bottle is a unique 'one of a kind special blend', created by Julian Van Winkle for the Annual Master Distiller's Auction at the Kentucky Bourbon Festival, which took place on September 15th 2007.

Key facts about this bottle:

  • This is a one of one bottling created by blending together barrels which contained 15 to 20 Year Old whiskey, likely produced by Stitzel Weller at Old Fitzgerald distillery, given the timeline.

  • This is a full strength bottling that was hand filtered and hand bottled at 125.6 Proof, making it the second highest proof ever seen on a Van Winkle bottling. The first being the Sam's 20 Year old bottling and the third being the Binny's 18 year old bottling.

  • Although the story has never been publicly told, Julian Van Winkle recalls his son Preston creating the label for this unique bottle on his computer ahead of the charity auction in 2007. Those in attendance remember this to have been produced on last minute notice by the Van Winkles for the event, hence the homemade nature of the label.

  • While very little is known about this bottle, pictures from the 2007 Master Distiller's Auction show this bottle displayed on-screen during the auction event describing the bottle as as "one of a kind special blend".

The glass at the rear of the bottle is signed by Julian P. Van Winkle III and dated 9-15-07.

Label reads:
