Description
Old Grand-Dad 100 Proof 1916
Distilled in the Fall of 1916, bottled in the Spring of 1926, ullage: low shoulder, produced by Richard E. Wathen, tax strip very slightly worn, front and back label very slightly soiled and scuffed, original carton worn and damaged
Basil Hayden, nicknamed Old Grand-Dad, ranked among the earliest commercial whiskey distillers in Kentucky, and the bourbon that bears his likeness has carried down through the ages. Hayden’s descendants honored him by establishing the Old Grand-Dad Distillery in Hobbs Station, Kentucky after the Civil War. R.E. Wathen, scion of a different bourbon dynasty, bought the distillery in 1899, and over the next two decades turned out prized bourbons – including this bottle. Distilled in 1917 and released in 1932, the final year of Prohibition.
This bottle is significantly ullaged, which is not unusual for bottles of this age. Please refer to images for levels and conditions
