Description
Anqitue Spiritus Frumenti George T. Stagg 100 Proof 1917
Produced Prior to Sept 22. 1917 at The George T. Stagg Co. Inc. bottled at the Frankfort Distillery No. 33 5th District of KY, Permit Ky-P-2, ullage: low shoulder, liquid level is in line with the word "One Pint" on the tax strip.
This bottle, and especially its packaging, is a rare historical testament to the changes imposed by Prohibition. Produced at the George T. Stagg distillery, now known as Buffalo Trace, it comes in a tamper-proof box with an extensive note on the back to druggists and consumers, explaining how to open it and how to look for evidence of tampering. Many of the Whiskies from this particular bottling were around 17 years of age and bottled around the mid 1930's.
