Description

the cartouche-shaped panel depicting two birds and garlands of fruit and flowers in lapis lazuli, chalcedony, agate, jasper and carnelian inlaid into a black marble matrix; the moulded silver-gilt border mounted with lapis lazuli cabochons and with a pierced silver filigree apron, raised on filigree basket-form feet, decorated with lapis lily flowers issuing further silver flowers from within the baskets, the underside covered in a later red and gold silk damask
