the hinged box with Boulle marquetry borders and a mother-of-pearl and tortoiseshell chequerboard to the outside surfaces, opening to reveal a backgammon board, the points modeled as finely-engraved bellflowers in mother-of-pearl and stained wood, with brass leaf-engraved borders
