This window seat relates to a design by John Taylor, published in Ackermann's Repository in February 1821 and illustrated in P. Agius, Ackermann's Regency Furniture and Interiors, London 1984, p.132. John Taylor, an upholsterer based in Covent Garden, had previously worked with the leading furniture maker George Oakley in the latter's 'Elegant Printed Furniture Warehouse' in New Bond Street. A pair of closely related sofas was sold Sotheby's London, 29 November 2000, lot 88.
