Where acquired by Aso O. Tavitian.

A painter of portraits, landscapes, genre scenes, and still lifes, Justus Juncker was a versatile artist. Here, Juncker demonstrates a clear awareness of the Dutch still life tradition, yet retains an idiosyncratic–if not experimental–approach. Signed and dated 1764, these decorative pendants juxtapose warm and cool tones against dark backgrounds to produce a dynamic interplay of color temperature. The bouquets are arranged in glass vases, reflecting and warping the sunlit silhouettes of nearby casement windows on their bulbous surfaces.
