This chair is one of a set of six side chairs bearing the original printed label of Benjamin Randolph’s shop at The Sign of the Golden Ball, Chestnut Street, Philadelphia, with another one from the set in the collection of the Winterthur Museum and the remaining four in the collection of the descendants of Anne Gillingham, daughter of Jospeh whom the chairs were made for, and her husband George Brearly.
