Contemporary Western painter Martin Grelle was born in Clifton, Texas in 1954. Maintaining a studio in the Meridian Creek Valley in Bosque County, Texas, Grelle’s work focuses on brightly colored depictions of the American west. Largely a self-taught artist, Grelle had his first one-man show within a year of graduating high school in 1973. In 1995, Grelle was voted by his contemporaries into the Cowboy Artists of America and continues to enjoy a decorated career in Western art.

Executed in 2008, Martin Grelle’s Camp Meat and Mules is a testament to the detail and precision that made the artist such a renowned force in Western art.
