Tim Duncan is considered by many to be the greatest power forward who ever played professional basketball. The 5 time NBA Champion retired after 19 seasons with the San Antonio Spurs with career averages of 19 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 3 assists per game.

Drafted in 1997 with the 1st overall pick, Duncan joined the 20-62 San Antonio Spurs and helped engineer what was, at the time, the greatest single-season turnaround in NBA history. The Spurs reached the Western Conference Semifinals in the 97-98 season, beginning a 22-year streak of playoff appearances, and had their sights set on a deep playoff run the following season. The Spurs delivered, finishing the lockout-shortened season with a 37-13 record and dominating the playoffs, going 15-2 on their way to the franchise’s first NBA Championship. They reached the Finals five more times during Duncan’s career; in 2003 when they defeated the New Jersey Nets, 2005 when they defeated the Detroit Pistons, 2007 when they swept the Lebron-led Cavaliers, 2013 when they lost to the Lebron-led Miami Heat, and 2014, when they defeated the Miami Heat.

Throughout his career, Duncan’s consistently stellar performances also helped amass him one of the most impressive NBA trophy cases. Duncan is a 15 time All-Star, won 3 NBA Finals MVPs, and 2 NBA MVPs. Duncan was also named to 15 All-NBA Teams, including 10 All-NBA First Teams, 15 All-Defensive Teams including eight All-Defensive First Teams, and to the All-NBA Rookie First Team. He joined Michael Jordan and Larry Bird as the only players to be named college basketball’s Player of the Year, NBA Rookie of the Year, and MVP of both the All-Star Game and NBA Finals. In August of 2020, Tim Duncan was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame, and in 2022 Duncan was named to the NBA 75th Anniversary Team. Duncan also ranks 16th all-time in points, 6th all-time in rebounds, and 5th all-time in blocks.
