An egg of the extinct Great Auk (Pinguinus impennis), c. 1800
13 x 8 cm (5⅛ x 3⅛ in), 23.5 cm (9¼ in) in circumference at its widest point.
William Yarrell (1784-1856), acquired in Paris or possibly Boulogne, c. 1815;
