Edo period, 18th century


the black lacquered iron bowl of eboshi-nari form, black lacquer peak and turnbacks, three-tiered black lacquer itamono-jikoro with spaced lacing in blue braid, the silver lacquer maedate in the form of a ring, the red lacquered tengu men forged with prominent jaw, detachable nose plate, silver lacquer teeth, red lacquer interior, three-tiered black lacquer throat protector with close-spaced lacing in dark blue braid


The bowl to peak: 26 cm., 10¼ in.
