painted, en camaïeu brun, probably in the Aufenwerth workshop, Augsburg, with a toper smoking a pipe, a figure standing by a small kiln, possibly an alchemist, and a female figure standing before palms, wearing a feathered headdress, possibly emblematic of the Americas, within an elaborate gilt scroll border with diaper cartouches, one with incised / to inside edge of foot, another with incised X
