painted, in the manner of Johann Ehrenfried Stadler, with extending branches of flowers, and a bird and small insects, with narrow iron-red diaper bands reserving half flower heads at the rims, crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue, numeral 2. in iron-red to both pieces

Cranfield University used non-invasive X-ray fluorescence (XRF) for this lot to screen the green enamel for chromium, which was not detected, a result consistent with 18th century manufacture.
