A similar model is illustrated in J.P. Samoyault, Pendules et bronzes d'ameublement entrés sous le Premier Empire, Paris, 1989, p. 188.

The design of this scrolled model could be by Claude Galle, who delivered "a pair of matte gold tripod torches" in 1799, or by André-Antoine Ravrio, who delivered various models to the Crown, including one in 1804 to the Palais de Fontainebleau. Another pair could be found on a Roentgen writing desk in the Berlin Castle Museum (see H. Schmitz, Deutsche Möbel des Klassizismus, Stuttgart, 1923, p. 17). An example similar to the one shown was sold at Sotheby's, Paris on April 27, 2017, lot 240.
