A pair of Régence giltwood stools, early 18th century

the oblong padded seat with a later squab cushion, both upholstered in mustard-coloured yellow silk, the diaper-incised rails with foliate and scroll carving to the apron and knees, the cabriole legs connected by a double-ogee X stretcher centred by a rosette

52cm high including cushion, 63.5cm wide, 47.5cm deep
