Description
Of rectangular design, engraved with a geometric pattern, the thumb-piece designed as a ribbon pavé-set with brilliant- and single-cut diamonds, accented by tapered baguette diamonds, opening to reveal a mirror, signed Cartier, numbered, maker's mark, British hallmarks.
This vanity case was designed by Rupert Emmerson for Cartier London. Rupert Emmerson trained at the Chiswick Art School and worked on medals for Charles de Gaulle following the Liberation of Paris at the end of World War II. In the 1950s and 60s, Emmerson was one of the main designers who helped bring Cartier London to the forefront of design. His most enduring creation is the famous 'Crash Watch' first produced in 1966.
