Thence by direct descent and generously donated to support the charity Think Equal.
The American jazz great Miles Davis took up painting as a means of improving the recovery of his hand after a period of ill health in 1982. The present artwork is abstract and highly stylised in nature, typical of his output throughout the 1980s. At the 1988 Granada Jazz Festival, the Miles Davis Group shared the billing with the Paquito De Rivera Sextet with Tete Montoliú, the Oscar Peterson Trio, and the Chick Corea Electric Band.
