The inspiration for this painting probably derives from a larger series of paintings by Karel van Vogelaer formerly in The Princely Collections, Liechtenstein.1 The arrangement of fruit and glassware at the lower right also features in a painting by Christian Berentz in the State Hermitage Museum, Saint Petersburg.2
