Executed in 1934-35.
With further sculptural drawings by the Artist (on the reverse).
This work is registered with the Henry Moore Foundation as HMF 1134c.
Gifted by the Artist to George Hartley, and thence by descent to the present owner
The present work was given by Henry Moore to George Hartley, the publisher of the art and literary magazine Listen, for consideration as a cover illustration. The magazine included contributions by Philip Larkin, Donald Davie, John Wain, Kingsley Amis, Richard Murphy, Elizabeth Jennings, Thom Gunn, James Merrill, Geoffrey Hill, Thomas Kinsella, R. S. Thomas and others. Four issues featured cover designs by Henry Moore.
