Cameo with Perseus after Antonio Canova

chalcedony, within a (probably original) leather, velvet and silk lined presentation case

This charming cameo is carved after Antonio Canova's famous Perseus (1804-1806; Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, inv. no. 67.110.1). Another cameo with the subject, which is signed by Nicola Morelli and mounted in a Castellani brooch, is in the Albion Art Collection.
