An assortment of citrus fruits are arranged within a white-and-blue porcelain Wanli bowl, which sits on a wooden table, together with a wine beaker, a paring knife, and an orange segment. All of the objects and edibles would have been imported from abroad, underscoring the imperial reach of the Dutch Empire and the luxurious domestic lifestyle that its mercantile imperialism facilitated.

Since it last appeared at auction the work was cleaned, revealing a signature at lower center.
