This unpublished oil sketch, one of the artist's "petits portraits," relates to a portrait sketch (present location unknown, formerly with Galerie de Bayser, Paris) from circa 1791-1793.1
This painting will be included in the forthcoming supplement to the catalogue raisonné of Louis Léopold Boilly's works by Étienne Bréton and Pascal Zuber.
