Patek Philippe made waves in the watch world with the introduction of the Nautilus 3700 "Jumbo" in 1976, a creation by the esteemed watch designer Gérald Genta, drawing inspiration from the nautical porthole. This luxury steel sports watch broke ground in an industry reeling from the quartz crisis of the time. With approximately 5000 units produced throughout its lifespan and an initial price of $3100, its rarity was unsurprising. After its discontinuation in the mid-1990s, the Jumbo Nautilus returned in 2004 with the Ref 3711 in white gold, followed by the release of the Reference 5711 in 2006. This model, reminiscent of the 3700 Jumbo but featuring center sweep seconds and an exhibition case back, initially garnered little attention but grew over the years to become a cultural icon and one of the most coveted timepieces globally.

Patek Philippe stunned enthusiasts in January 2021 by announcing the discontinuation of the highly sought-after steel Nautilus reference 5711-1A-010. Despite extensive waitlists and soaring prices in the secondary market, the decision was made. However, just three months later, in April 2021, Patek Philippe surprised once more by unveiling two new iterations of the 5711: the 5711/014A in steel with a sunburst olive green dial and the 5711/1300A, also in stainless steel with sun burst olive dial, but featuring a baguette diamond-set bezel.

This marked the first time a Nautilus boasted a green dial and the debut of a steel reference 5711 Nautilus with a gem-set bezel. The latter model, the 5711/1300A, boasted a bezel adorned with 32 flawless top Wesselton baguette diamonds, meticulously crafted to enhance the curvature of the Nautilus bezel. The fusion of stainless-steel construction, an enthralling olive-green dial, and luxurious baguette diamonds resulted in an unparalleled aesthetic.

Both models swiftly became highly coveted, particularly the 5711/1300A, such as the one currently available, exclusively distributed to VIP and VVIP Patek clients. This instance marks only the second time this model has been made available on the open market, with the added distinction of provenance from the esteemed collection of Mr. Sylvester Stallone.
