The Patek Philippe 5159 was part of the brand's Grand Complications collection from its launch in 2007 until 2019. The reference 5159 exemplifies the brand's commitment to horological excellence and tradition by combining the officer-style hinged case back, engraved dial, and retrograde perpetual calendar complication with phases of the moon, powered by the automatic caliber 315SQR (later replaced by the 324SQR in 2010).
The reference 5159 replaced the earlier reference 5059 in 2007 and distinguished itself from its predecessor by increasing its classically styled case by an additional 2mm and adding a hand-engraved dial. The combination of these two elements, along with the retrograde date and officer-style case back with a hinged dust cover, gives the ref 5159 a timeless and distinctive Patek Philippe design, drawing from many of the brand's most iconic designs.
