The Patek Philippe reference 5039 comes from a legendary bloodline of perpetual calendar models. It was the immediate successor to the 3940 and uses the same, famed calibre 240Q that was developed under Philippe Stern amid the quartz crisis. The 5039 shares a similar, and well balanced, dial because of that shared calibre but includes several distinct details that separate from its earlier sibling. Most notably, the 5039 features a ‘Clous de Paris’ bezel and elongated lugs. The 5039 was in production from 1997 to 2007 and was released in a run of 500 examples in yellow gold, 300 in pink gold, and 400 in white gold.

The present lot hails from 2023 and is the first known example to appear with an elegant brown sunburst dial. The brown sunburst effect pairs incredibly well with the pink gold case, making for a truly unique wristwatch. Complete with its leather attestation book, this is a truly rare and unique offering that is fresh-to-market and offered with a bevy of accessories including its Patek Philippe branded winding case.
